Seminars are run periodically and take an in-depth look at specific employment law topics or business essential topics that are likely to affect most businesses and organisations. Previous seminars have covered ‘Family Friendly Legislation’ and ‘Recruitment and Selection Processes’. Seminars are run in conjunction with Menzies Law, Specialist Employment Our next seminar is: Managing Sickness AbsenceManaging sickness absence continues to be a major challenge for many businesses, whether they are faced with genuine long-term absences, intermittent attendance or malingerers. The CIPD’s latest survey reveals that on average sickness absence costs employers £692 per employee every year and the number of employers reporting an increase in stress-related absence continues to rise. This cost looks set to increase even further in the wake of recent cases concerning paid holiday during sickness absence. The introduction of ‘fit notes’ in place of sick notes in April this year will also bring fresh challenges to HR Managers trying to juggle the commercial needs of the business with helping staff back to work. Menzies Law and HR Champions jointly present this detailed, 2-part seminar which will equip you to manage sickness absence effectively and to navigate the DDA and unfair dismissal law, thus minimising the risk of employment claims. Session 1 will focus on the legal framework, tried and tested procedures and dealing with stress. Session 2 will focus on the ‘softer’ skills of working within the procedures and managing sickness absence with confidence.
